January 2007:
- The AMF was shut down on the 7th/8th prior to redeployment to Germany. SEVIRI data acquisition continued to the 10th and was then stopped. GERB acquisition will continue indefinitely.
September 2006:
- MSG1 went unexpectedly into 'safe mode' at 2006/09/23 14:00. The SEVIRI data stream was therefore been switched to MSG2 (from 2006/09/25 07:00). However, as GERB1 (on MSG2) is in safe mode, due to eclipse season, no GERB products are available from 2006/09/23 14:00 until further notice.
July 2006:
- RADAGAST project meeting held at ESSC, 4th July.
May 2006:
- Gary Robinson attended the US AMMA (African Monsoon Multi-disciplinary Analyses) workshop in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he gave a presentation on RADAGAST, including observations of the March 2006 dust event.
- Improved Browser Tools available, with animation feature (see Data & Resources).
April 2006:

- First significant dust storm of the year, starting on the 5th.
- Quicktime movies of this event generated (see Data & Resources).
- Quicktime Pseudo natural colour movie of 29th Solar Eclipse generated (see Data & Resources).
- Time series of SEVIRI bands over Niamey & Banizoumbou sites now being generated as NetCDF files (see Data & Resources).
February 2006:
- New version of RADAGAST web site launched.
- SEVIRI image products now being generated in near-real time. (Latency is ~25-35 minutes).
- SEVIRI data from Meteosat-8 have started to be collected in near real-time at ESSC, with delivery via ftp direct from Eumetsat. (Latency is ~15-20 minutes).
January 2006:
- The RADAGAST project has begun!
- Data collection by the ARM Mobile Facility is now continuous.
- Tony Slingo returned to Niamey on 13-28 January to take part in the Dust And Biomass Experiment (DABEX) carried out with the UK BAe146 aircraft. Selected photographs are available at: http://www.nerc-essc.ac.uk/~as/niamey_dabex.html
- The first SEVIRI image from MSG-2 was obtained by Eumetsat on 24 January and the first GERB image on 31 January.
December 2005:
- The ARM Mobile Facility became operational in Niamey at the end of the month.
- MSG-2 was launched on 21st December 2005. This carries a second SEVIRI imager and GERB radiometer and is scheduled to become operational in the summer of 2006.
November 2005:
- The RADAGAST PI, Prof. Tony Slingo, attended the AMMA conference in Dakar, Senegal, from 26th November to 4th December. He then visited Niamey on 5th-7th December. Some photographs from this trip are available at: http://www.nerc-essc.ac.uk/~as/niamey_visit.html
- The ARM facility has been set up at Niamey!
